Planes, Customs and Automobiles
Hey All....
Well Im finally here, its Tuesday Morning and I think the jet lag has gone... So far its been fantastic...
When I left the UK on Friday night I was a little nervous, luckily Shaun and Pip were there to see me off... now I know Shaun is a big bloke who likes his beers and ladies and footy - but I tell you its quite embarrassing when a bloke like that is an uncontrollable bag of snot and tears... glad I was able to get through the gate to escape.. jokes thanks for coming to the Airport guys.. much appreciated.
Whilst waiting to check in I got talking to the girl in front of me who was also going to Cairns - Kerry, We got seats together as the rest of the people in the queue looked like scum and villianary... even the old ladies... Got on the flight and all was pretty smooth.... Long but smooth.. 12 hours to Singapore, then 6 Hours to Cairns via Darwin... Flying into cairns was amazing, I had a window seat and I was able to see the sun coming up over the horizon, that's when I got my first glimpse of Oz, and I think that's the point I started jumping up and down with excitement.... Going through customs and the sniffy dogs jumped Kerry, for a moment I thought ahhh Drug dealer.. But it turned out to be just an apple.. maybe had some drugs inside but who knows... Once past all that we walked out into the Cairns morning and it was hot... Jumped into a taxi and the driver was ace.. Really friendly Whilst driving us to our hostels he gave us a little bit of history of the place... Got thinking if this was a cabby in London/Brum picking you up from the airport you'd hardly get an hello... Short journey and I was at the hostel.. Walked in and again the staff were fantastic.. Friendly and helpful... Rooms cool and the place is ace....
